I have such great memories of visiting Woodies downtown to see the Christmas windows. Even though we had the Chevy Chase Woodies, the family always bundled up for the visit downtown. I wish this article included photos of those festive windows.
"In 1951 an underground tunnel was completed connecting them under G Street." An excellent detail which makes me wonder if it still exists and if so, how it is used?
I had a friend who worked for an organization that had their HQ in the downtown building after the early 2000s renovations. They hated the building. The high ceilings necessary for a department store were awful for offices and consequently the place was hard to keep cool or warm. Floors were uneven and all chopped up. Even with lots of creative space planning , it wasn’t suited for offices.
